Welcome To Think Bonney Lake First!
Mayor Neil Johnson
Since becoming your mayor in 2006, we have come a long way in building a strong community and team, so we need to complete what we have started. My theme has always been “Think Bonney Lake First”, and everything I have tried to do has been with the best interests of the community in mind.”
During my tenure, I have worked with the council to create a long-term vision and an atmosphere of “team”. The city continues to achieve stability and professionalism among staff in all departments keeping costs down and providing valuable service to all citizens. The stability allows us to focus on long term planning, planning for growth, continued efficient and effective public safety, continued improvement of our local lakes, parks, implementing the sidewalk, streetlight and downtown plans. Soon you will be able to walk from Eastown to Downtown using our newly constructed sidewalks. The other big items include the development of Cedarview Park, creation of Main Street, the construction of the justice building and the soon to be installed sewer system in Eastown.
Over the last four years, we have been able to bring a much needed Good Sam health complex, the soon to be completed Franciscan complex, and improvements to the Midtown area. In addition, we continue to work on improving our current parks and open space, while looking for other opportunities to acquire open space for future recreation needs in the Bonney Lake area. During my tenure, we have been able to secure more than $3,000,000 in grants for the City.
